Caramel Lucas, a serial entrepreneur who is an acclaimed author, poet, podcaster host, motivational speaker, standup comic, creative writer, director, model & actress. My book is “In Love With The Other Man”

# What is/are the real-life story(ies) behind your book(s)?

You do not have to settle being mistreated by your partner. There are so many relationships who are comfortable letting their significant other make them feel worthless and they can’t make it without them. My book says different there is someone who can love you, cherish you and make you feel you are special and appreciate.

# What inspires/inspired your creativity?

My motivation inspires me. I am always thinking of new things to create.

# How do you deal with creative block?

I walk away and until my creative mind flows again. It may take a hour or a day depends on what I have going on in this weird mind of mine. But once the juices flows and I start to write again there is no stopping me.

# What are the biggest mistakes you can make in a book?

My book cover. I want to revamp my book cover. I want my book cover come alive. I think my book is too dark.

# Do you have tips on choosing titles and covers?

Make sure you are choosing titles and covers that is appealing to the readers, an eye catcher. When you choose a title, the title has to be catchy so the readers will remember your book. The cover should be appealing to the readers. When you have a great title and a great cover your book has a great chance to be purchase.

# How do bad reviews and negative feedback affect you and how do you deal with them?

I feel bad and negative reviews shouldn’t bring you down it should put fire in you. I know you can’t make everyone happy but at least you know what people don’t like.

# How has your creation process improved over time?

My creation improved by listening to other creative people. When you surround yourself by other people who have creative minds you start to grow in your creativity. I have grow so much over the years in my creation process because I learned to listen and watch others who has a little more experience than I do.

# What were the best, worst and most surprising things you encountered during the entire process of completing your book(s)?

The best is that I wrote a book that everyone enjoyed, and I chose a great publishing company. When people tell me that they didn’t want to stop reading the book and they finished within 1 or 2 days. The enjoyed the characters and the plot of the book. The worst would be having to make sure that my cover was an eye catcher for the readers. Also getting writers block when I stopped several times to figure out what characters I was going to write about. The most surprising thing in the process is that I accomplish what I set my mind to do. I never thought I would become an author and to write my own book. When I finished I was surprisingly happy.

# Do you tend towards personal satisfaction or aim to serve your readers?

I am both. I can say, I tend to go towards to my personal satisfaction because it feels good when you have accomplished a creation that you feel good about. But I also love when my creation make the readers want more from me. I want to have the best for my readers and for myself at the same time. Because when you are creating your best you want to know it is your best and to know its your best you feel good to let readers know you have pride in your creation and you want the readers to love it.

# What role do emotions play in creativity?

My emotions plays a big role in my creativity. I put all my emotions into my creativity. I want anything I do to be my best.

# Do you have any creativity tricks?

I have no tricks at all. I just sit at my computer and wait until my creative thinking goes to work. Once my mind is working I just keep writing. But I can say, if you have a thought, please write it down as soon as you have that thought because later its gone. I have had so many great thoughts and when I got to the computer I totally forgot about it. Now I write everything down.

# What are your plans for future books?

I don’t know yet. I know it’s coming soon but I don’t know when. It’s not easy writing a book you have to be in a special space to write. It may be look easy but its not. Give me another year and I will be coming out with another creation, maybe a second part to my first one. We will see…

# Tell us some quirky facts about yourself.

I am scared to ride escalators and I talk to myself when I write.
