Interview With Author Sass Green

# Please introduce yourself and your book(s)!

Hi, I’m Sass Green. My newest book is Rich & Sexy, a fun collection of “spicy” short stories with a paranormal twist.

Readers enjoy the free weekly “Sass Green Creative” featuring fun flash stories and free eBooks from fellow writers.

# What is/are the real-life story(ies) behind your book(s)?

Witnessing a lot of “behind-the-scenes” gossip at Hollywood studios (I was an intern while a UCLA student). I also have a lot of “rich & sexy” friends in Manhattan, so I’m in tune with that vibe.

# What inspires/inspired your creativity?

Everything around me and a vivid imagination!

# How do you deal with creative block?

Romps through Central Park are magic.

# Do you have tips on choosing titles and covers?

For titles, just short and easy to remember. As for covers, I recommend authors invest time in finding genre-appropriate covers that fit the market.

# How do bad reviews and negative feedback affect you and how do you deal with them?

Authors should know negative reviews likely suggest that their title, subtitle, keywords, and book description simply attracted the wrong audience.

# How has your creation process improved over time?

Writing in short sprints under a time limit (20 – 40 minutes) helps me keep on point.

# What were the best, worst and most surprising things you encountered during the entire process of completing your book(s)?

Most surprising (and “best”) is that my characters absolutely have a life of their own. The say and do rude, funny, shocking things, then make me write it down!

# Do you tend towards personal satisfaction or aim to serve your readers?

Both. Lucky that readers like the same thing I do!

# What role do emotions play in creativity?

I work myself into happy, upbeat frame of mind before hitting the keyboard. It’s “getting into the mood” and the spirit of the activity.

# Do you have any creativity tricks?

1. A ticking clock
2. Crayons and a book to sketch ideas out.
3. Visualizing “The End”

# What are your plans for future books?

This summer, I’m launching my new Vampire Romance. It’s set in Transylvania and pretty cool. Please email me if you’d like to be an ARC reader.

# Tell us some quirky facts about yourself.

1. I’m addicted to sugar.
2. Carrots are my primary food group.
3. I’m crazy about Instagram Reels, but limit myself to watching only 30 minutes a day on the treadmill.
